About YDIY
YDIY Bookkeeping Pty Ltd (YDIY) started in 2012 out of a small home office in Ferny Hills (a desk in the living room). In the beginning, YDIY catered to three clients, with only a mac to work on, and a small filing cabinet under the desk. Needless to say, the company was not very well equipped.
With only an iMac to work on, the client base was limited to customers who used MYOB for their books. After one year of the company running and barely gaining clients the discovery of Parallel Windows (which is an application that allows you to run Windows on your mac) allowed the company to run QuickBooks which boosted the number of clients to over twenty. However, this was not a permanent fix. Inevitably we knew it would eventually fail or the computer would become too slow and we would need to invest in a Windows PC. In 2014 YDIY contracted a company to build a custom Windows PC that would make our jobs as bookkeepers that much easier.
Since buying the custom PC YDIY has now developed into a company that services over 60 clients, has a proper office with multiple computer platforms, offers services using lots of bookkeeping applications, and has officially gone paperless as of July 2016.
About the team
Stephanie Lorton MICB has over forty years experience in the bookkeeping field. She started her career in the U.K. working in a bank, then onto a housing committee, and at the same time she was doing odd jobs to support her family. In 2006 Stephanie decided to emigrate to Australia with her family and start a new life abroad.
Originally living in Melbourne with family Stephanie soon realised she wanted to be Queensland Bound. On the hunt for jobs, Stephanie received a job offer from a company in Queensland. It was not an easy decision to make but it turned out for the better. Stephanie and her family moved to Queensland where she would be able to work and provide.
She worked for this company in many roles including construction based bookkeeping, multi-currency bookkeeping, lots of inter-entity work & reconciliations. Stephanie worked for this company full time for four years (from 2006-2010) & still retains them as a private client to this day.
In a massive personal work life change, Stephanie knew she had to increase her client base & looked for roles where she could expand her knowledge base hence the foray into the field of Medical Billing in 2010 - which she still does & is pleased to have clients in various medical professions from Dentists to Psychiatrists to General Practice to Online Telehealth providers in the Medical Cannabis industry.
